We will attempt to give you a refund or exchange on every item purchased at any Canadian Tire store when you bring in your original receipt and issued Canadian Tire "Money"®. When you don't have your receipt, we will offer a receipt look-up. Receipt look-up enables Canadian Tire stores to verify credit or debit card purchases within 90 days of the date of purchase.

Returns Policy

Unopened items in original packaging returned with a receipt within 90 days of purchase will receive a refund to the original method of payment or will receive an exchange. Items that are opened, damaged and/or not in resalable condition may not be eligible for a refund or exchange.

Valid photo ID may be required to confirm this information.

There are some exceptions to our Returns Policy. These include:

  • Returns, exchanges or warranties on an item without a receipt may not be accepted.
  • A defective item is subject to the manufacturer's warranty and will be repaired or replaced.
  • Electronics (home audio & video, personal audio & video, cameras & accessories, communications) may only be returned within 30 days. All other rules apply.
  • Auto electronics (backup cameras, Bluetooth, car audio, GPS, inverters, portable DVD, remote starters, satellite radio) may only be returned within 14 days. All other rules apply.
  • Ink cartridges, media, and memory cards, books, DVDs, CDs, mattresses and portable beds may only be returned if unopened. All other rules apply.
  • Live goods must be returned to original store of purchase.
  • Special order hard parts and specific application automotive parts must be returned to original store of purchase.
  • Bikes cannot be returned. Free tune up within 30 days with proof of purchase.

Some products at Canadian Tire are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. These include:

  • Gift Cards
  • Tinted paint and stain products
  • Products cut to length or modified
  • Magazines
  • Firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Fireworks
  • Clearance or final sale merchandise
  • Reusable Value Bags

Where to Return or Exchange Products

Products can be returned or exchanged at any Canadian Tire store within 90 days of purchase. Use our Store Locator to find the store nearest you.

Exchanges

Exchanges are handled in the same manner as product returns. To exchange a product, simply bring it to any Canadian Tire store within 90 days, in its original condition and packaging, with your receipt and issue of Canadian Tire "Money"®. We stand behind the products we sell. Details on warranties can be found on all product detail pages. If you need to make a claim on the manufacturer's warranty, please contact your local Canadian Tire store. If a product is defective, the manufacturer's warranty applies. If none is specified, we offer a one-year warranty on most products.
 

Damaged Or Defective Item (Home Delivery)

If you receive an item that is damaged or defective upon arrival, please call our Online Customer Service Department immediately at 1-866-SHOP-CTR (746-7287). It is important that you contact us before returning the item, so that we may assist you with return shipping charges. If you do not contact us prior to shipping the item back to us, you are responsible for all return shipping charges.
